Since 1999 every first Friday after Father’s day has been celebrated as National Take Your Dog To Work Day. Pet Sitters International came up with this day as a way to encourage dog adoption and celebrate the love and joy dogs bring into our lives. We can all agree that bringing your dog to work is sure to brighten everyone’s day. Whether it is your own furry dog that got lucky enough to come or another coworkers its always a better day when we have a four legged cutie in our presence.
How to Celebrate?
- Take your furry friend to work on this day. Make sure you let your co-workers know that you will be bringing your dog to work and clear it with anyone who may have allergies or other issues.
- Have your company organize a visit to the local dog shelter, or, better yet, let the local dog shelter come to your workplace with dogs that are in need of a loving home – you never know, some of your co-workers may adopt a dog!
The Pros of Bringing Your Pets to Work
According to the University of Southern California: Workplace stress causes negativity, which can create a tense work environment for employees. Pets in the workplace create benefits for employers and employees alike. While pets have been seen as an employee-only benefit in the past, factors that positively affect employees correlate with improved office morale, absenteeism, and a healthy work-life balance.
Here at The Pet Stop, we believe every day should be take your dog to work day and we live by that motto! If your job allows it, take advantage of this amazing day and bring your best fur buddy along. Make sure that if you do bring your dog to work, that they have all necessary items to enjoy their day as well! Bring along a leash, treats, their favorite toy and maybe even their bed. By the end of the day, you’ll see just how much fun they had when they thank you with wet kisses and wagging tails.
So make sure to mark your calendar for next year and get all the benefits of bringing man and woman’s best friend to work!
