Who is Simparica Trio Chewable Tablets for Dogs for?
Dogs and Puppies (8 weeks of age and older and weighing 2.8 lbs or more). All dogs should take some form of flea, tick, and heartworm control, whether they spend a lot of time outdoors or not. Fleas and ticks can come in on your clothing or on visiting pets. Indoor dogs can be bitten by a mosquito carrying heartworms that has made its way into your home.
Why use Simparica Trio Chewable Tablets for Dogs?
A chewable tablet that prevents heartworms, treats and controls ticks (lone star ticks, black-legged ticks, gulf coast ticks, American dog ticks, brown dog ticks), and treats and prevents flea infestations. Treats and controls roundworms, and adult hookworm infections. Flea infestations can develop before you know it and can take many frustrating months to resolve. In addition to itchy bites, your dog could develop flea allergy dermatitis, a reaction to the flea’s saliva. This results in itchy skin and if the fleas are left untreated, can lead to hair loss and skin infections. It only takes one tick to bring conditions such as Lyme disease, a year-round risk depending on where you live. Not only can this affect your dog, but your family could be bitten and also get the disease.
How does Simparica Trio Chewable Tablets for Dogs work?
Sarolaner is an acaricide and insecticide belonging to the isoxazoline group. Sarolaner inhibits the function of the neurotransmitter gamma aminobutyric acid (GABA) receptor and glutamate receptor and works at the neuromuscular junction in arthropods. This results in uncontrolled neuromuscular activity leading to death in insects or acarines. Moxidectin is an endectocide in the macrocyclic lactone class. Moxidectin acts by interfering with the chloride channel-mediated neurotransmission in the parasite. This results in paralysis and death of the parasite. Pyrantel pamoate is a nematocide belonging to the tetrahydropyrimidine class. Pyrantel acts as a depolarizing, neuromuscular-blocking agent in susceptible parasites, which causes paralysis and death or expulsion of the organism.
